Current State of the Art, Theories on Failures, and Emerging Technologies

Steve Viny will discuss the current state of the art in mixed waste processing systems and equipment, overview theories on failures such as IREP, discuss economics, scalability, and limitations. Last, he will discuss the applicability to other existing and emerging technologies such as cement kilns, gasification, pyrolysis, composting, and others. The attendee will gain a unique understanding of the pro, cons, economics, and applicability of mixed waste processing. No single waste management practice is best in all cases hence the attendee will gain an understanding of the requirements for a successful mixed waste processing project. So called "Myths" will be uncovered and the attendee will gain helpful insight to determine if MWP is suitable for their unique and or future waste infrastructure. The speaker has over 2 decades of mixed waste processing experience and can provide a unique perspective.

Achieving High Levels of Waste Diversion using the miniMRF(tm) Mixed Waste Processing System

Speaker Bio: Steven M. Viny has over 30 years of experience in the Solid Waste field. Mr. Viny is a past International President of SWANA and was the first private sector officer in the association’s history. My Viny has over 20 years of experience specifically in mixed waste processing which is relevant to the topic of discussion.

Abstract: The miniMRF(tm) mixed waste processing system is designed to accept unsorted MSW and thru its fully automated process, extract recyclables, compostables, and a fuel fraction so as to achieve a high landfill diversion rate. The miniMRF(tm) system can be used to help meet the State of Florida waste diversion goal of 70% by 2020.

Growing Sustainable Communities Conference

Steve Viny will be presenting at the Growing Sustainable Communities Conference: Extracting Value from Waste using the miniMRF System, featuring Envision Waste Services, miniMRF LLC on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015. This presentation will discuss new innovations in mixed waste processing and will highlight technical solutions for the automated recovery of recyclable materials from unsorted residential and commercial solid waste.

SWANA Winter Waste Conference

Steve Viny, CEO of Envision Waste Services, will be presenting at the SWANA Winter Waste Conference -February 8-10, 2015 in Clearwater, FL. The presentation will cover the "perfect storm" that is upon us which is placing an increased interest in recovering materials for beneficial reuse as opposed to burying waste in landfills including, but not limited to changes in legislation, new innovative technology, increased land disposal costs, increased transportation costs and the heightened interest in reducing greenhouse gases all combine to suggest a change in paradigm may be upon us. In addition to an overview, the session will cover innovative front end processing technologies as well as innovative back end uses and technologies for the recovered materials. The audience will leave with insight as to the wave of change that is upon us.
