Clayton A. Minder currently serves as the CFO for the companies of Envision Holdings, which include Envision Waste Services, LLC, Envision Realty Group, PRFection Engineering, and MiniMRF LLC. He is a results oriented leader with over 29 years of success in the solid waste industry, with extensive experience in all facets of the industry. Additionally, Mr. Minder is an experienced and successful entrepreneur whose companies have provided support to the solid waste industry in the areas of management consulting, project management, and employment resources.
As CFO for the Envision companies, Mr. Minder has fiscal and managerial responsibilities for all facets of the companies and their operations throughout Ohio and Florida. He was instrumental in the bidding process which led to a multi-year multi-million dollar contract to operate the Medina CPF, over which he has had fiscal and managerial responsibility for the past 8 years. He has successfully reduced costs by negotiating and re-negotiating advantageous financing for operations and equipment, Bond Surety arrangements, and Liability Insurance and Healthcare Insurance arrangements. He has spearheaded work with operations management at various sites on multiple cost cutting projects and analyses which have streamlined operations and made them more efficient and cost effective. He has worked to negotiate a Workers Compensation credit with the State of Ohio and further reduced costs by working to get the company suited for inclusion in Group Rating plans. Mr. Minder successfully transitioned the operations, systems, office function, employees, vendor relationships and financial management of the acquired business that was the genesis of the Envision business. He has been an integral part of the leadership team that has taken MiniMRF from concept to startup to a commercially viable company with various operating locations and equipment installations, and whose equipment is now specified in multiple projects at varying stages of development across the country.
Mr. Minder formerly served as the CFO for the waste group of The Dalad Group, which included The Norton Construction Company, Norton Environmental Company, Norton Environmental Inc. of Arizona, Norton Equipment Company, and Landmark Disposal. In his Norton/Landmark companies’ capacities, Mr. Minder demonstrated fiscal and managerial responsibility for operations throughout Ohio and Arizona, which included solid waste landfills, construction and demolition debris landfills, material recovery facilities, compost facilities, solid waste transfer facilities, hauling companies, and an equipment import and sales company. While with Norton/Landmark, Mr. Minder successfully worked to grow the businesses through marketing efforts and strategies with the sales staff and key managers. Mr. Minder built long term relationships which secured customer volumes through the Norton disposal facilities, while negotiating and securing subcontract arrangements to ensure operational capabilities to effectively manage these increased volumes. Along with the revenue growth, Mr. Minder worked with operational management to streamline operating efficiencies and develop strategies which led to bottom line growth with greater profitability from the existing customer base, while working with sales staff to ensure stronger results from new revenues. Mr. Minder developed strategies and relationships necessary to secure funding for these growth initiatives, and restructure debt obligations to keep shareholders equity contributions to a minimum.
Prior to his employment with Norton/Landmark, Mr. Minder spent 20 years in the waste industry, including 10 years with Waste Management and 7 years with Allied Waste/BFI (now Republic Waste). In his tenure with Waste Management, Mr. Minder had responsibility for 11 operating locations, at various times. During this tenure, he received numerous awards and recognition for his managerial accounting practices and cooperation with operational management to successfully leverage top and bottom line growth, while maintaining the books according to company, industry, and regulatory standards. He was a regional representative to the company’s first Controller’s Roundtable, which sought effective resources and strategies to improve the role of the Controller in leveraging the growth and profitability at the operating level. Mr. Minder and the management teams with whom he worked, successfully completed 6 acquisitions, three of which more than doubled the size of one operating location, and were the basis for growth into 2 new markets. He was an integral part in the company securing new Municipal Contracts in at least 10 communities, which included 2 first time privatizations in communities that were previously served by municipal employees.
While with Allied Waste/BFI, Mr. Minder had responsibility for the Northern Ohio District, which included 12 operations over a 150 mile radius, and represented over $150 million of revenues. During this tenure, the Distirct saw increased revenues and profitability, and was honored as one of only 3 Districts in the $5 Billion company that successfully met and exceeded financial budgetary goals, while meeting safe operation and operational efficiency goals. While at Allied, Mr. Minder oversaw a staff of 10 professionals which provided managerial accounting support to the operating locations. He was a key member of the management team which successfully expanded the life and capacity of two landfills, acquired a business that doubled the rolloff book of business for the Cleveland operating location, and successfully bid municipal contracts in over 10 communities, including a first time privatization.
Mr. Minder is a 1981 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College located in Berea, Ohio, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Accounting and Finance. Additionally, Mr. Minder is a 1987 graduate of Lake Erie College located in Painesville, Ohio, where he earned a Master of Business Administration.
During his tenure as a Controller in the waste industry, Mr. Minder has had direct responsibility for over 28 different locations throughout Ohio and Arizona whose operations have covered the full spectrum of industry services. He has had responsibility for 7 different MRF operations, including several startup operations. Mr. Minder was also a partner and Director of Business Development for The RED Group, which provided administrative, employment, and consultative project services to the waste industry in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.
